In Cook County, if you are filing your petition for expungement or sealing in Chicago (District 1) you can obtain your rap sheet at the Chicago Police Department headquarters Access and Review Division located at 3510 S. Michigan Ave, Chicago, Il 60653 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (312-745-5508). Rap sheets are obtained by first submitting your fingerprints between 8:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., Monday-Friday. The fee is $16.00. After approximately five (5) business days, you can return to the Access and Review Division and obtain a copy of your rap sheet.
Outside of Chicago, there are multiple methods of obtaining your rap sheet. You can contact the police department or law enforcement agency that arrested you and request a rap sheet directly through the department’s record division. You may also obtain a rap sheet from the Illinois State Police records division. Be advised that through Illinois State Police your rap sheet will only contain information on your convictions. The fee for non-fingerprint conviction information $16 and the fee for fingerprint conviction information is $20.
Oftentimes, the circuit court in various counties will require a certified copy of disposition to be attached and included with a Petition to Expunge or Seal.
